Getting started with Join-In takes a few minutes. Follow the steps below to download the version that’s right for you, install the software, and complete the initial setup.
Step 1 – Choose Your Join-In Version
Click Get Join-In in the website header.
Under Which product do you want to download?, select one of the following:
Join-In Pro (Recommended)
Choose Join-In Pro to download the latest version of Join-In.
Click Download Join-In Pro to download the installer.
Next, under Select the software you will use to open Join-In Pro, choose the option that matches your setup:
- Join-In Pro only (Stand-alone)
- Grid 3
- TD Snap
- Communicator 5
- Other AAC Software
- TD Control
- Alea IntelliGaze
After you make your selection, the page will display additional information specific to your setup. Depending on your selection, this may include:
- Integration instructions
- Page sets or grid sets
- Additional downloads
- Tutorial videos
- Setup guides and documentation
Review the information provided and download any additional resources needed for your configuration before continuing.
Not sure which option to choose?
Select Join-In Pro only (Stand-alone) if you will be using Join-In Pro by itself. If you use Grid 3, TD Snap, Communicator 5, TD Control, Alea IntelliGaze, or another AAC system, select the matching option.
Join-In (Older Version)
Choose Join-In (Older Version) if you are continuing to use the original Join-In.
After selecting your AAC software or access method, the page will display the downloads, page sets, tutorials, and setup instructions required for your configuration. Review these resources before continuing with the installation.
Step 2 – Install Join-In
- Open the downloaded installer.
- If Windows asks for permission to make changes to your device, click Yes.
- Wait for the installation to complete.
- Join-In will launch automatically when the installation is finished.
Step 3 – Get Started with Join-In Pro
The first time you open Join-In Pro, choose how you would like to continue:
- Start a 30-Day Free Trial – Begin using Join-In Pro immediately. No registration is required.
- Activate a License – Enter your license key if you already have one.
- Purchase a License – Buy a Join-In Pro license.
- Sign In – Log in with your existing Join-In Pro account.
Your free trial begins automatically when you launch Join-In Pro for the first time.
Step 4 – Complete the Initial Setup
The setup wizard will guide you through the initial configuration.
You’ll be able to:
- Select your preferred access method (touch, mouse, eye gaze, switch, or pointer).
- Configure your access settings.
- Choose a toolbar type.
- Customize the toolbar appearance, including:
- Color scheme
- Toolbar size
- Font size
- Icon or text display
- Toolbar position
When the setup is complete, Join-In Pro is ready to use.
Tip: You can change any of these settings later from Settings, allowing Join-In Pro to be adjusted as the user’s needs change.
Getting Started with the Original Join-In
The original Join-In uses setup procedures that depend on your AAC software.
After installation, follow the setup instructions, tutorials, and documentation displayed on the download page for your selected configuration. These resources explain how to install page sets, activate your subscription or license, and complete the setup for Grid 3 and Communicator 5.
Once the setup is complete, you’re ready to start using Join-In.
